The Batman: DC FanDome Panel

the batman drops trailer and cast info

maxresdefault.jpg

The second most anticipated panel of today was The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight. I knew we were going to get some solid footage, but I didn’t know the teaser was gonna look better than the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy.

Besides a fantastic, beautifully shot trailer, Reeves dropped some cool info about the movie. First of all, only 25% of the actual film has been shot, so it’s impressive that we got such a good trailer.

We also got several images of Robert Pattinson as Batman, and his homemade, more grounded suit as well as glimpses of Paul Dano’s The Riddler, an unrecognizable Collin Farrell as The Penguin, and Zoe Kravitz as a “cat burglar” of sorts, soon to be Catwoman.

In the trailer, we got looks at several action sequences, and the hand-to-hand combat is exceptional, most likely the best Batman fights I’ve ever seen. Yes, superior to Ben Affleck in BvS. It’s all very grounded, real-looking, gritty, and perhaps even R-rated.

Reeves gave us little explanations for a few characters too. About Batman, he said that “he isn’t a superhero in the traditional sense. He doesn’t have a cape, he doesn’t fly.” Referring to Selina Kyle/Catwoman, he said her character “touches on all these iconic things from the comics,” nothing you’ve ever seen before. For Dano’s Riddler, he teased that his iteration is “a version of Riddler that no one’s seen before.”

He also talked a bit about the non-Batman movies that inspired this. He included Chinatown, The French Connection and Taxi Driver. Chinatown was key because of how detective Jake Gittes discovers corruption in his town.

Shazam 2: DC FanDome Panel

The Shazam 2 panel was short, but it gave us something: the title! That’s right. This sequel to the 2019, critically-acclaimed origin story has a confirmed name.

Several members of the cast were there, including Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good and director David F. Sandberg. Comedian Sinbad also revealed that he would appear in the sequel. Then we got the one piece of news during the less-than-10-minute panel.

Shazam 2 will be titled Fury of the Gods according to a poster that Faithe Herman drew!

Black Adam: DC FanDome Panel

The Black Adam DC panel was short on words and high on concept art for the upcoming anti-hero movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

There’s a lot, but here it all is!

Aquaman 2: DC FanDome Panel

aquaman 2 doesn’t give us much, but orm is coming back

Aquaman-e1598138263780.jpg

The Aquaman 2 panel was really quite quick, just a little conversation without Jason Momoa, but here’s everything we got.

Director James Wan and actor Patrick Wilson, who have worked on five films together, attended the Aquaman 2 panel. They both confirmed that Wilson’s Orm will return for the sequel.

Patrick Wilson discussed how he found out about his role. He explained that it was during the filming of The Conjuring 2, also directed by Wan. The director himself “floated it out there” to WB that Wilson was a good choice for Orm/Ocean Master. Wan said WB was “supportive from day one.”

Wilson also noted that he had to push himself over the limit to embody the role, confirming that it was a huge challenge to get in shape for the character.

The director said that the second film will be “serious and relevant to the world we’re living in today,” which is a big departure to the silly, self-aware predecessor. He also noted that there will be more worlds explored in the sequel, expanding the universe.

In my opinion, the panel was too short and didn’t reveal anything big, which is not what was promised. But it wasn’t bad or anything.

The Snyder Cut: DC FanDome Panel

the snyder cut trailer and release info drop

justice-league-hbo-max.jpg

The panel we have all been waiting for, The Snyder Cut, just aired. It was magnificent, explosive, beautiful…and looked much better than the mediocre Joss Whedon theatrical version.

Since we already knew so much about the cut coming to HBO Max, we didn’t get too much info. However, director Zack Snyder (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman) revealed that it would be presented in four one-hour episodes, and not one giant film. That seems smart.

Also, you are permitted to watch all four episodes together after they all air on the streaming platform. Since HBO Max is only available in the US, Snyder announced that they will be working on different distribution plans and deals to release this event to other countries around the world. Or, if you want, just turn on that VPN.

And then we got the biggest drop of the panel: the teaser trailer. Set to some killer music, this chaotic, yet truly epic trailer gave all us fans what we wanted. There’s the Black Suit version of Superman, Darkseid and Steppenwolf showing up as the villains, and the League uniting of course.

Another interesting development is that Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be presented in a different aspect ration to the original film. The Snyder Cut will be available in the 1.66.1 ratio, known widely as “European widescreen,” which will result in viewers seeing black bars on either side of the image when they watch on HBO Max.

The Flash: DC FanDome Panel

the flash gets new images during its panel

The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, just got its DC FanDome panel earlier today. Barry Allen got a new suit, and we got a huge update on whether Michael Keaton will be returning as the Caped Crusader after a confirmation that Ben Affleck would be starring.

“It’s more organic, you can see the light embedded in it,” said director Andy Muschietti, referring to Barry’s flashy new spandex. Fans should also be thrilled considering the fact that the DCEU is finally getting more involved with the Multi-Verse, which was announced when we saw an image of Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne joining Miller’s Flash in a striking new pic.

“All of these stories and characters can start to collide,” said screenwriter Christina Hodson. “The cinematic multiverse is going to be born out of this movie.” And despite the controversy Ezra Miller has been involved in, I am absolutely hyped for the film itself.

What controversy? Well a video went viral that reportedly consisted of Miller choking a woman in a bar in Iceland. The filmmakers, and, surprisingly, the fanbase have just let it go.

Muschietti, the director, is best known for directing the two IT movies, has proven himself as a pretty capable filmmaker, although I am worried about the genre. His usual thing seems to be horror, and this is full-on superhero action, but we’ll see. His wife, and producer Barbara Muschietti was also on the panel.

Here are the first images for the movie:

The Suicide Squad: DC FanDome Panel

new BTS footage and cast reveal for james gunn’s the suicide squad

the-suicide-squad-title-1234252-1280x0.jpg

The Suicide Squad panel arrived this morning and it was incredible. The immense cast of characters, and the cast itself were both absolutely exciting. It seems as if the entirety of Hollywood is working on this movie, and thank god, considering how awful the first Suicide Squad film was.

In the panel, director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Brightburn) released a 2-minute BTS video quickly explaining each character, and showing us some explosive action sequences. He also gave us the full cast list, including a confirmed Idris Elba and John Cena.

Here’s a rundown of the cast and who they’re playing in The Suicide Squad:

  • Margot Robbie – Harley Quinn

  • Jai Courtney – Captain Boomerang

  • Joel Kinnaman – Colonel Rick Flag

  • Viola Davis – Amanda Waller

  • Idris Elba – Bloodsport

  • John Cena – Peacemaker

  • David Dastmalchian – Polka Dot Man

  • Michael Rooker – Savant

  • Flula Borg – Javelin

  • Daniela Melchior – Ratcatcher 2

  • Steve Agee  King Shark (on-set only)

  • Mayling Ng – Mongal

  • Peter Capaldi – Thinker

  • Alica Braga – Solsoria

  • Pete Davidson – Blackguard

  • Nathan Fillion – TDK

  • Sean Gunn – Weasel

  • Juan Diego Botto – Presidente General Silvio Luna

  • Joaquín Cosío – Major General Suarez (not in video, but revealed during the panel)

  • Storm Reid – Tyla, Bloodsport’s daughter (not in the video, but revealed during the panel)

That’s a pretty big list, am I right?

HERE IS THE FOOTAGE WE GOT:

Wonder Woman 1984: DC FanDome Panel

new wonder woman 1984 trailer brings new info!

During the Wonder Woman 1984 DC FanDome event, we got a new trailer, and a good look at Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah. In this article, we’ll be breaking down what we found out, and giving our opinion on the whole thing.

CHEETAH: CATS REBOOT OR TOTAL BADASS?

In the trailer, WB didn’t shy away from showing Barbara Minerva aka Cheetah, Wonder Woman’s next nemesis. The first really clear look at the villain looked slick and fresh, and I’m pumped to see the feline face off against Diana. It brought a little bit of bad memories from 2019’s CATS, but much cleaner than expected.

Otherwise, we still don’t know Barbara’s full motive for turning into such an antagonist, but we now know that it has something to do with the dreaded Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal from The Mandalorian). Another fun fact is her whole cat-like body is a combination of practical effects and CGI.

YOUNG DIANA IS BACK!

Young-Diana.jpg

Another thing we caught from the second trailer is the return of young Diana, who seems to be participating in some sort of race in a giant gladiatorial structure. Nothing else was confirmed about the little superhero, but she’s sure in it.

A LOT IS PRACTICAL. WELL, NOT THAT CGI LIGHTNING THAT DIANA SWINGS ON…

Wonder_Woman_1984_Fireworks.jpg

Despite some moments in the trailer requiring CG effects, a lot of what you see are practical costumes, stunts, and environments, making everything look as real as possible. According to Patty Jenkins, the director, a lot of the film will be “real people in real environments,” well except for that CGI thunderstorm. Still, Diana swinging on lightning is pretty incredible.

All that work really payed off into making an all-out epic, visually dazzling, vibrant and thrilling trailer. It just got me more, and more hyped. Especially considering how solid its predecessor was.

Here is the actual trailer:
