So What’s The Story?

After Mavis realizes that Drac might need to take a vacation. The whole gang is sent to a cruise for a monster vacation only to find out that the vacation was all a trap set by the Van Helsing family. A family who hates monsters, and will destroy them at any cost. Soon Drac must face a devastating truth, and save all of his monster friends from their doom.

Is It Worth Your While?

All I can say is that it was disappointing. Not completely awful, but still. Now here are my reasons. First of all the directing. I thought that the directing for this one was much too fast, and though it nailed a few jokes. The plot, and story were just wasted away in a jumble of mixed characters, and party’s. Compared to the first two this one was many things. Less funny, much more childish, and badly directed. The originals on the other hand were the exact opposite. What I can award it though is that younger kids will enjoy it entirely. All of the colorful animation, and slapstick humor, but it won’t at all please older audiences. Which the other two were able to do. Also the cast was not nearly as good in this one as in the last one, but I’ll get to that later. Overall I would say that Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation was cute, and suitable for younger kids, and sometimes funny, but it had a bad plot, and terrible directing.

How Was the Cast

The overall cast in Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation was not awful, but it was worse than the original. First we have Adam Sandler as Dracula. I thought that he was much funnier in the previous ones than in this one. Because in many of the scenes he did not have many jokes. Including the romance scenes which by the way could have been much funnier, but were just really cring. Next we have Andy Samberg as Johnny. I thought that he had a few scenes of laughter like when he talks about love while doing weird moves, but not as much as the first two, and he could have also been a bit bigger of a character because when he was bigger he made the movie better. Third we have Selena Gomez as Mavis. I thought that she was not terrible, but she did not improve that much either. I did not think that she was bad at all, but she’s the same. Fourth, and finally we have Kathryn Hahn as Ericka. I thought that her character was awful, but the acting was okay. I mean she has not played in a lot of kids comedies. So I have to give her credit for trying something new, and performing for kids.

Aging ‘The Drac Pack’

I gave this film 4+ mostly because of well, nothing. I thought that the film was completely harmless to younger kids, and they will surely enjoy the slapstick humor, and colorful animation, and beloved characters enjoyable for kids ages 4, and up. Parents be warned though because you will need a real vacation after this movie, but if your a die hard fan of Hotel Transylvania then go. Or if your child will beg you until you finally have to go. The truth is you won’t know what to expect from this movie.
