Tv Review: I Know This Much is True - Season 1
Review of HBO’s I Know This Much is True:
What do we have here? Well, ladies and gentlemen, HBO has released yet another grim and depressing show! What a surprise. The story is about the middle-aged Dominick Birdsey (Mark Ruffalo) who recounts his troubled relationship with his mentally-ill twin brother Thomas (also played by Ruffalo), and his efforts to get him freed from an asylum. Don’t worry, though, this series is still excellent. The acting, I have to say, is incredible. Ruffalo’s double performance is superb, and his character’s relationship with his brother is deeply saddening, a real tear-jerker. That’s because it’s terribly real, and you truly feel it. This is NOT an easy watch, the relentlessly grim plotting and the seemingly depressed characters really fuel the entire thing. But if you’re there to see some fantastic acting, and a show that deals with an important subject matter, this is the thing for you.
Should you Binge, Browse or Skip?
I Know This Much is True tells a beautiful story of brotherly love, and despite the over reliance on grim plot points, Mark Ruffalo’s double helping of performances brings it home. I would say…BINGE IT
