Taika Waititi’s a real joker, so you may not believe a lot of what he says, but the Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok director dropped some clues of his upcoming MCU film Thor: Love and Thunder during an Instagram watch party. Though, of course, Waititi also threw some jokes around, teasing the return of Tony Stark in some very, very fake script pages just for the fun of it. His script pages were teasing that Stark would return to meet up with Thor and tell him that Thanos has returned! He would summon a team called The Avengererers. Oh those ideas do sound fantastic, but anything that really could happen in the fourth Thor film? Don’t worry die-hard fans, Waititi also released some clues that actually sound plausible, well plausible in a way.

The director revealed that the film “makes Ragnarok seem really run-of-the-mill, a very safe film…There’s a lot in it, a lot of set pieces. This new film feels like we asked a bunch of 10-year-olds what should be in the movie, and just said yes to every single thing. The combination of things as well, and some stuff from the comics…space sharks; if you look up space sharks, you’ll get a good idea of what this is.” Space sharks do sound like a bit of a stretch, even for Waititi, but he even once described this film as “doubling down on how nuts Ragnarok was.” Is it just me, or is he delivering. He didn’t reveal much else, although he did show pictures of some concept art for both a new look at Asgard and Miep. However, as expected, there were A LOT of questions from desperate fans.

Waititi dodged most of them. One fan asked if Loki would appear in the film and he simply said he couldn’t say. Another inquired which character Christian Bale would play and Waititi faked his mike cutting! (Man, this guy’s good). Thirdly, he did have a definite answer for if the Silver Surfer would appear which was “nah”. There has been some speculation on which character Bale would play and it’s most likely going to be a villain. Six possible characters he could be playing are Beta Ray Bill, Balder, Cul Borson, Dario Agger, Gorr the God Butcher and Mangog. Though Waititi didn’t give us much to work with on that side. Although, a couple other celebrities did join the party.

The first one was the beloved Tessa Thompson, who portrays Valkyrie in the MCU and was introduced in Ragnarok. Thompson made some further discussion on the upcoming sequel, saying that she had read a recent draft of the movie, but not the most recent one. Thompson also supposedly dodged questions about a possible love interest for Valkyrie, Thompson actually asked Waititi herself if they would explore more of his on-screen character Korg. He responded “we do touch on Korg’s culture, where he’s from, the cultural specificities of Kronans, if you will.” So we got some more Korg! Things got real, however, when Mark Ruffalo joined the party.

Ruffalo, who’s a world-class spoiler, went off topic, supposedly telling knock-knock jokes and then Waititi’s daughter finding a fake cure to the Coronavirus! Ragnarok wasn’t even on the screen then and it was all Ruffalo, which portrays the iconic Hulk in the MCU after Ed Norton dropped out early on. Thor: Love and Thunder was supposed to commence filming this Summer in Sydney, Australia, but due to the Coronavirus that has been delayed. Also, it’s original release date, November 5th 2021, has been pushed back to February 28th 2022 due to the outbreak as well. So catch it in theaters then!
